My classic film books for the gift-giving holidays!

We'll be talking about Christmas movies for the next several weeks, and to lead off the month of classic film yuletide, I'd like to remind you of my book, Christmas in Classic Films, which provides a roster of old movies with scenes to conjure Christmas of days gone by.  Makes a nice gift, if you know an old movie buff, or if you just like to give presents to yourself.

The paperback is available at Amazon, but also here at Barnes & Noble.

The hardcover, so far, is available only at Amazon.

Here are a few other classic movie books I've written for your gift-giving pleasure:

Ann Blyth: Actress. Singer. Star.
- for sale in paperback and hardcover at Amazon,

And in paperback and hardcover here at Ingram,

And in paperback and hardcover here at Barnes & Noble.

And in paperback here at Walmart.

Hollywood Fights Fascism
-  here in paperback at Amazon.

Movies in Our Time -
here in paperback at Amazon.

And all of these books are available as well at my page on Bookshop.org, which helps support independent bookstores.

Next Thursday, which happens to be Thanksgiving for those of us in the U.S., we'll have a look at Laurel and Hardy as Babes in Toyland (1934), which you can lazily enjoy as the tryptophan kicks in from the turkey dinner.

Selling my books at the Easthampton Book Fest!

Join me at the 5th annual Easthampton Book Fest where I'll be selling my books in the Literary Marketplace with a host of other writers in this town-wide cultural event.

The date is Saturday, April 13th, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Eastworks  building on 116 Pleasant Street, Easthampton, Massachusetts.

A variety of other activities and vendors will be located also at the Cottage Street Cultural District and at the Historic District at Main & Union streets.

My twin brother John and I will be there with all our books, including our newest venture - Bob the Bear's A-B-C Coloring Book!  If you like to color and have forgotten the alphabet, this is just the thing for you.

Or give it to a child.  You'll look less ridiculous.

See you in Easthampton, Saturday, April 13th!

Book sale at fall craft fair!

I’ll be selling my books at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Granby Road in Chicopee, Massachusetts, on this coming Sunday, October 21, 2018.

I’m very happy to be taking part in the St. Joan of Arc School P.T.O. Fall Craft Fair.

There will be a variety of vendors selling their craft items for the upcoming holiday season, and my twin brother John and I will have a table for our books.  Please come down and say hello, have a look around, and maybe even get a jump on your holiday shopping.  There will also be a raffle, and lunch options and baked goods will be available.  Come out and help the P.T.O. support the students!

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, October 21st.  The K of C Hall is at 460 Granby Road, Chicopee, Massachusetts.

See you there!

News of Current Events...

Just a brief update today on some current events:

First, for those who prefer to buy their books in bookstores and not online, a new independently owned bookstore has opened in Westfield, Massachusetts, in the heart of the historic district right on the town's beautiful common.  It's called Blue Umbrella Books, and they now carry all my books.  In fact, I'll be doing an author signing with them in December -- more on that later.

So for those of you in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut -- or any of you folks across the country who'll be up in New England this month doing your leaf peeping (what we call being on fall foliage tours or driving out to look at the leaves) -- stop in to Blue Umbrella Books and say hi.  (Westfield has some mighty nice other stores too.)

***************

Next week, I'll be participating in the Classic Film Bloggers Association annual fall blogathon -- this year the subject is "Hollywood on Hollywood."  My post will be up next Thursday the 20, and I'll be covering how some classic cartoon caricatured the Hollywood stars. Have a look here at the CMBA website for a roster and links of terrific blogs and their topics for this blogathon.

See you next week.

Movies in Our Time - Hollywood Mirrors and Mimics the Twentieth Century

This is to announce the publication of Movies in our Time - Hollywood Mirrors and Mimics the Twentieth Century, my latest book, a collection of essays on classic films from the period from 1928 to 1960 and how they reflect their eras.

Some of these essays have been previously published in Classic Films and the American Conscience.  That is available only as an eBook, but Movies in Our Time, out as an eBook now, will also be issued in paperback by the end of the month.

These essays originated through the past eight years or so here on Another Old Movie Blog.  The cover is by that Noir Girl, Casey Koester.

The books is available at AmazonBarnes & NobleSmashwords, Sony, and a variety of other online merchants.

If anyone who blogs and likes to review books would care to review this one, I'll provide an eBook or paperback in exchange for an honest review.   Just send me an email with your preference to JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com.
