A Holiday Musical Interlude...

Louis Armstrong jazzes it up a little, but reverence can still be heard in that horn. Please scroll down to the bottom of the blog to mute the music so you can hear these videos.

Below, we have Jeannette MacDonald in “San Francisco” (1936) and “The Holy City”.

A blessed Passover, Easter, and Orthodox Easter to all who celebrate them.

Lovely way to spotlight this important week, Jacqueline. I'm not much of a Jeanette MacDonald fan, but Louis Armstrong can do no wrong. Thanks so much for offering these!

Thanks, Becky. Thanks for stopping by. Louis can do no wrong with that horn is absolutely right. As for Jeannette, I can't hear "The Holy City", even in any church setting, without thinking of the San Francisco Earthquake.

Very true, Jacqueline -- movies have such a power in remembering the past.

I love that you use musical bits to highlight holidays. Classic films have such a charming--and often reverent--way of honoring holidays. Dear me, I wish I could think of another word for "holidays."

Hi, Lucie. There is no other word for holidays, except maybe "that day we try to celebrate and honor our heritage and beliefs but end up making ourselves sick by eating too much." But, that takes too long.

The very same to you Jacqueline, m'dear. I hope you're having the same great weather we're having. So far.
We'll be spending Easter with family, I hope you will to. :)

Take good care and thanks for the videos.

Weather is sunny, but cold, not unusual for an early Easter (though last year this time I recall snow on the ground, so with everything turning green out there and the tulips about to bloom (the ones that the wild rabbit in my yard has not yet nibbled), I think we're batting 1,000.

I will indeed be spending Easter with family, with much cooking and baking commencing tomorrow.
