Happy New Year

I hope the holidays are going well for one and all, and I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year, as I won't be posting the rest of this week.  Thank you most sincerely for the pleasure of your company this year.

We'll start the new year off next week with a visit to Las Vegas, with two very different movies: "Las Vegas Story" (1952) a crime drama featuring Jane Russell, Victor Mature, and Vincent Price.  Then we'll take it on the lighter side with the musical "Meet Me in Las Vegas" (1956) with Dan Dailey and Cyd Charisse.  I hope you can join us.  I'll meet you by the slot machines.

For now, a final holiday offering from a very jazzy cartoon Ella Fitzgerald.  Remember to scroll down to the bottom of the page to mute the Christmas music so you can hear the video.

See you next week.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Jacqueline! I'll look forward to this series next week. Some Vegas films sound like a fun way to start off the year. I enjoy MEET ME IN LAS VEGAS and would like to see LAS VEGAS STORY.

In the meantime, enjoy the season!

Best wishes,
Laura

Happy New Year to you both. Laura, I had been waiting the longest time to get both these movies recorded (I had never seen either before I recorded them this year) so I could blog about them together.

John, I figured a cool and jazzy guy like you would appreciate the finer things.

Wishing you a wonderful 2012, Jacqueline. And thanks for the very cool cartoon Ella - it's impossible to lose the holiday spirit when Ella sings "Sleigh Ride."

See you on the flip side, CW.

Yvette, Happy New Year to you, and when you catch the bus for Vegas, bring money with you,'cause I'm a little short.

I don't know how I've missed seeing Las Vegas Story - I love the whole cast. I'll have to catch that one. Happy New Year, Jacqueline -- I'll be joining you in the cocktail lounge before heading to the blackjack table!

Happy New Year, Becky. See you in the cocktail lounge. I'll be the one sitting on the piano, singing a torch song.

When you lose all your money and can't pay your tab, they put you to work.

Jacqueline: what a unique video! I'd never seen this, so thanks. Happy New Year to you...but watch out for Becky in the lounge--when she loses all her money at the blackjack table she might try to "borrow" your tips!

Happy New Year, Kim. Becky's not getting her hands on my brandy snifter full of dollar bills. I work too hard for it. Not many people can sing "C is for Cookie" and make is sound like a torch song.

The fishnet stockings have a lot to do with it.

HEY! I heard that!! I don't have to take this abuse much longer (I DID borrow that). And I can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and drive men mad!

Jacqueline T. Lynch said...

Everybody wants to get into the act! (I borrowed that, too.)
