Today's prize is another old time radio CD with two programs:  first it's an episode of the anthology Family Theater from March 1953 called "Round Trip."  Ann and Robert Stack play former lovers who meet again by chance on a commuter train back to the city after a weekend on Long Island.  This two-person play is well-acted, thought-provoking, and intimate.  The second program is Suspense, from 1948, an episode called "Muddy Track" with Edmond O'Brien as a fall guy for murder and Ann as a young woman caught in the same web, who is more than she seems.

Also, a bonus track of Ann singing "My Foolish Heart" a the 1949 Academy Awards in March 1950, introduced by Paul Douglas.  This is not an MP3 file, it's a regular audio CD you can play in your car, computer or DVD/CD player.

Today's prize is an original lobby card for the movie One Minute to Zero (1952) starring Ann and Robert Mitchum, which we discussed in this previous post.  It measures 11 x 14 inches, made of thin card stock, and shows a little wear, but it's a unique piece of movie memorabilia.  These "lobby cards" would be distributed to theaters to display in the, ah, lobby to advertise the current or upcoming attractions.  This would look great in your rumpus room over the pool table.  You know, where that tacky picture of the dogs playing poker is now.

So, that's what's on the block for today.  If this suits your fancy, send me an email to JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com and just say something like "Give me the photos."

COUNTDOWN TO LAUNCH- 13 DAYS TO GO - MILDRED PIERCE featured in SCARLET STREET magazine

Welcome to countdown to launch, 13 days to go until my book, Ann Blyth: Actress. Singer. Star. is published on Thursday, June 18th.

Special thanks to Vienna at Vienna's Classic Hollywood for her post yesterday about the book.

Every day until the 18th, I'm going to give away a small piece of memorabilia I've gathered on this journey: photos, magazines, an audio CD of old time radio, a DVD of a film, of a television appearance, a few original lobby cards from Ann's films.  So stop by frequently and see what's happening.  I'll let you know day by day what the prize is, and I'll just pick the winners from a hat.

If you want put to your name in for the daily raffle of stuff, please, also, send me an email.  Don't just leave a comment in the comments box because I need some way to contact you if you've won.  Your email will never be published, I will NOT be putting it on my newsletter list, it will not be used for anything except contacting you tell you if you've won, and to ask where to send the stuff.

Today's prize is a issue of Scarlet Street magazine from the spring of 1994.  Please don't be put off by the hideous cover depicting a demon child.  Clearly, the editors had some unresolved emotional issues.  Nevertheless, this is a humdinger of a magazine.  There are two articles in it relative to Mildred Pierce (1945).  One is a six-page article, with photos, by Joan O. Scrivani on the making of the movie.  The second is an interview with Ann Blyth with Jessie Lilley on the making of the movie and her role as the evil Veda Pierce.  It is a five-page article with photos on that movie, and a retrospective of her career.  Two very good articles for the Ann Blyth or Mildred Pierce fan.

The magazine is subtitled "The Magazine of Mystery and Horror" and is geared more towards the serious film buff.  There are other articles on Jack Nicholson in Wolf, and on Village of the Damned, Psycho, and various articles about sci-fi and fantasy films and television, lots of info for the serious collector or fan of this genre.

So, that's what's on the block for today.  If this suits your fancy, send me an email to JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com and just say something like "Give me the magazine."

Until June 18th, if you want to enter this daily contest more than once, even if you've already won a prize, go ahead.  I don't care.  I'm going to wait until the end of it to send out these items to the winners, in case some of you do win more than once, and it'll save me several trips to the post office if I do it one time at the end.

Today's prize is a set of three publicity photos from Sally and Saint Anne (1952), which we discussed in this previous post.  They are 8 x 10 glossies, all originals, and the one with Ann sneaking into church has the original caption typed onto the back. The fellow in the convertible is Palmer Lee (Gregg Palmer), and the fellow in the nightshirt is her grandpa, Edmund Gwenn.  Perfect for that bare spot on the wall above the couch in the living room.

So, that's what's on the block for today.  If this suits your fancy, send me an email to JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com and just say something like "Give me the SALLY photos."

Over the next 18 days if you want to enter this daily contest more than once, even if you've already won a prize, go ahead.  I don't care.  I'm going to wait until the end of it to send out these items to the winners, in case some of you do win more than once, and it'll save me several trips to the post office if I do it one time at the end.

Also, if you happen live outside of the United States, that's okay.  I will mail to our friends and neighbors around the globe.

That's it for today.  I'll see you tomorrow with more stuff.

COUNTDOWN TO LAUNCH- 15 Days to Go! - Ann Blyth Old Time Radio Episodes

Welcome to the countdown to launch -- 15 days to go -- when my book, Ann Blyth: Actress. Singer. Star. is published on Thursday, June 18th.

Since a number of bloggers have kindly offered to review the book, I'll link to their blogs throughout the month, before and after the 18th, whenever they decide to post.  Other bloggers will be posting their interviews with me.  If you care to get involved, please send me an email at: JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com.

Today's prize is an audio CD of two old time radio episodes in which Ann Blyth appeared, and a bonus track of her singing "My Foolish Heart" at the 1949 Academy Awards in March 1950.  The two episodes are, first, "State Fair" from General Electric Theater broadcast September 10, 1953 with Tom Tully, Verna Felton, Sam Edwards, Joseph Kearns, Dick Ryan, and Lamont Johnson.  The second episode is "Night Caller," a moody tale of suspense from Family Theater broadcast March 24, 1954.  Ann stars as a woman home alone on a sleepless night, visited by Raymond Burr as an escaped convict.  Also features John Dehner, Van Cameron, and Vivi Janis.  We discussed one of these, the "State Fair" episode in this previous post. This audio CD is not on MP3; is regular audio CD that you can play in your car, DVD player, or any CD player.

So, that's what's on the block for today.  If this suits your fancy, send me an email to JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com and just say something like "Give me the CD."

COUNTDOWN TO LAUNCH - 16 DAYS TO GO- ROSE MARIE photos

Welcome to the countdown, 16 days to go until my book, Ann Blyth: Actress. Singer. Star. is published--on Thursday, June 18th.

Ann Blyth: Actress. Singer. Star. is very much a product of the classic film blogging community, for without the encouragement of readers of this blog over the past year, a number of them other bloggers, this project might not have gotten where it is today, and I am grateful to be able to acknowledge this.

Two such bloggers have participated in the book in a special way by lending their insight and perspectives on meeting Ann Blyth at the 2013 TCM Film Festival.  They are Laura Grieve of Laura's Miscellaneous Musings, and Janet Sullivan Cross of Sister Celluloid.  Their words and photos appear in the final chapter of this book as eloquent examples of the importance of bloggers as the main chroniclers of classic film study in our culture today.

Two other bloggers who helped last year in the gathering of missing television and movie videos from Ann Blyth's career are Ivan G. Shreve, Jr. of Thrilling Days of Yesteryear, and Kevin Deany of Kevin's Movie Corner.  Ivan, along with his impressive knowledge of film and classic TV, is also an expert in old time radio, one of my other joys.  Kevin is currently taking a break from his blog, but I encourage you to visit, and the blogs of these other writers for the depth and breadth of their knowledge, and most especially, their passion for classic film.

And now, back to today's raffle.

If you want put your name in for the daily raffle of stuff, please, also, send me an email.  Don't just leave a comment in the comments box because I need some way to contact you if you've won.  Your email will never be published, I will NOT be putting it on my newsletter list, it will not be used for anything except contacting you tell you if you've won, and to ask where to send the stuff.

Today's prize is a lot of three publicity photos from the film Rose Marie (1954), which we discussed here in this previous post.  The photos are all 8 x 10 glossies, and all appear to be copies rather than originals.  One depicts Ann in a canoe spearing a fish--just right for your den or dining nook, and the others are photos of drawn illustrations that would have been used for posters and lobby cards.  All three will go to one lucky winner.

So, that's what's on the block for today.  If this suits your fancy, send me an email to JacquelineTLynch@gmail.com and just say something like "Give me the ROSE MARIE photos."
