  1. No doubt that was filmed in warm, sunny Southern California....

  2. I just love the idea of snow. I adore looking at snow from my window - at Christmas time. It is not Christmas time.

Fine fellow that he was, I'm pretty sure Irving Berlin didn't do his own shoveling.

  3. I love this song, Jacqueline! I listened to it during Christmas and it always made me smile. But it's not, necessarily, a Christmas song is it? I always liked Rosemary Clooney. There was always something so comfy-cozy about her. :)

  4. Fred, just because the snow is soapflakes on a soundstage doesn't mean it's not real. We must not deny Southern Californians their pretty illusions.

Caftan Woman, it's true that Irving Berlin did not do his own shoveling. Ira Gershwin used to come over his house and shovel his walk for five bucks. Or maybe it was Jerome Kern. I forget now.

Yvette, I agree Rosemary Clooney had a very comfortable, likeable screen presence. I have sung this song on trains myself, and nobody else joined in, but I like to think if Rosie had been there, she'd jump in on a verse.

  5. I think Ira got George to do it, but pocketed the cash anyway.
