I really enjoyed that film, a little hocky, but a great movie to watch when it's raining outside and chilly. let me know if you ever get around to seeing it. But I don't know the name of the woman who delivers the fur coat to Stanwyck at the beginning of the movie. I wish I did. So many walk-ons in those days not only did not receive screen credit, but seem to be lost to us in any shooting records that might have been kept. Maybe some eagle-eye among our readers will be able to answer that question someday.Jacqueline T. And the writers really put more into the acting to make sure the characters worked for the movie. Does anyone know the name of the black delivery woman? She did a whole lot in the short 10 seconds given. But the whole movie was fantastic! Great holiday movie!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04888107475830481264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092350404895325373.post-55930907478679398962021-12-30T13:31:05.154-05:002021-12-30T13:31:05.154-05:00Welcome to the blog! The minor character actors are always fun to watch and really make the movie, and good for you for doing a search on Emmett Smith. You can always tell a real classic film fan by the interest they show in the details.Jacqueline T. Just saw this film again with fresh 60 year old eyes! What a wonderful holiday movie! I am so glad Barbara Stanwyck got the lead role. She was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised by the brief monologue spoken by the black waiter in the restaurant. I replayed on my DVR a few times. I am so aware of stereotyped minority characters in films, especially during this time period. That small role was so refreshing to see. I followed up by doing a search on this actor, Emmett Smith, who by the way had no film credit. Looks like his meatiest role might have been as a catcher in the Jackie Robinson Story movie in 1950 (which I now plan to see). Also, glad you pointed out the female black delivery person. I had to go back and forth on tape to find her, but finally did. Thank you for your blog on this movie and for pointing out these two actors.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09565938886226566412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092350404895325373.post-17566168949431619472008-01-13T16:36:00.000-05:002008-01-13T16:36:00.000-05:00Thanks for stopping by, Bettye. It's the kind of film where you have to watch it more than once to catch everything. I appreciate your perspective as an African-American, regarding the small roles of the delivery person and Sam the waiter. There weren't many roles for blacks in that period which were not presented as a stereotype, so when we find them it's nice to be able to point them out.Jacqueline T. And the performers were wonderful. I just loved S.K. Sakall and Una O'Connor. Barbara Stanwyck and Sydney Greenstreet showed real versatility.

I could go on and on . . . .bettye griffinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04457387770524295498noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092350404895325373.post-91210433484468325742007-12-10T15:31:00.000-05:002007-12-10T15:31:00.000-05:00Hi, Laura, thanks for stopping by. It's fun and fast moving, and probably one of the last of the screwball comedies of that era before films took a more realistic turn after the war.Jacqueline T. I'll be watching it this year. :)

Best wishes,
LauraLaurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09626109831176745957noreply@blogger.com
