I simply had to know more about the Modigliani painting and the search of it brought me to your blog which I am now not only in love with but you too especially after reading your post on last year’s anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. I adore Charles Boyer and didn’t even realize it was Jessica Tandy, just fabulous.

I did look to see if you had a presence on another format ie Instagram etc.
Your dedication to this blog is most impressive - I have a lot of reading to catch up on! You've really captured it. I became interested in seeing it -- as well as John Huston's "Let There Be Light" movie about post-war PTSD -- a few years ago, after reading the excellent book, "Five Came Back" by Mark Harris. The work Capra did with "Why We Fight" and other films, as well as Robert Riskin's work with the OWI, are fascinating glimpses into our past.Jeanniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06760789011206442728noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092350404895325373.post-5385283858153348822024-02-07T17:45:07.794-05:002024-02-07T17:45:07.794-05:00Welcome to the blog! I found it very easy to guess the killer's identity when I first saw the 1945 movie. The discovery of the body and the initial police investigation seemed to drag the movie for me. And I also believe the meat and potatoes of Cain's novel and any other adaptation was the relationship between Mildred and Veda and certainly not any murder mystery.Juanita's Journalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00239203125898839619noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7092350404895325373.post-8480180921224160092024-01-08T09:45:59.980-05:002024-01-08T09:45:59.980-05:00Dear Capt. Dixon,
Thank you for your kind comment...Dear Capt. Dixon,

Thank you for your kind comments regarding my posts on classic films. However, I disagree with the following political comments:

First, that Trump is a patriot. He is a traitor, and a most loathsome con man.

Second, that my stance is hateful. It is not hateful; my stance is one of anger, disgust, and a refusal to let democracy die in this remarkable nation.

Third, that most Americans disagree with my stance towards Trump. Most Americans, in both elections of 2016 and 2020 voted for his opponent. That is not bias, that is math. The only people who delude themselves with the notion that Trump is extremely popular are those cult followers so deeply immersed in the bubble of lies that they cannot conceive that others living honorable and moral lives could be against him.

Having taken an oath to defend the Constitution, it is appalling to me that you would support this demagogic monster. Free speech is not the only aspect of the Constitution you were required to defend; your oath applies to all of it, including the 14th Amendment. But that is between you and what is left of your conscience.

Until Trump crawled out of his dumpster and came onto the national political scene, this blog was apolitical. It will become so again when he is no longer a threat to this great country, and indeed, to the world. You are welcome to comment on movies, and I hope you enjoy the blog. But my political statements as regards this piece of filth who is trying to avoid prison by attaining the high office of the Presidency of the United States are not negotiable.

Kind regards,
Jacqueline T.
