Fourth Anniversary

Just a brief note to mark (tomorrow) the fourth anniversary of Another Old Movie Blog. Thank you for reading, and for commenting.

What amazes me about the past four years of blogging on old movies is not how many films we’ve discussed, but how many films, and actors and actresses I have either given only slight mention to, or have yet to mention at all. There are always films I mean to get to and haven’t, and it is, I suppose, some comfort that I’ll never run out of topics. I know I’ll never get tired of it.

The community of classic film bloggers is an especially enriching association of which I was ignorant when I began blogging. I’ve learned so much from reading other old movie blogs. I find myself these days, when watching a film, wondering what the other bloggers would think about it.

Thanks for having the patience to endure what I think about it.

Congratulations, especially since you have about three months on my blog, "Carole & Co.," which was born June 13, 2007 (and has been an important part of my life since, just as I'm sure your blog has been for you).

Blogs, who knew? I mean, who knew they could become such a focus for our lives? I've enjoyed your blog since the moment I first began paying attention to such things, Jacqueline. Yours was one of the first film blogs I took notice of. I even like your music, which is not something I can say about other blogs. (The music's not playing today though...)

I like your detailed posts on films I'm not always familiar with, but enjoy reading about nonetheless.

So, congratulations, m'dear. And here's to many, many more years of great writing and blogging and whatever...

Thanks so much, folks. By the way, Yvette, music seems to be playing now. The band must have been on a break when you stopped by. That explains why there is no more food left in my refrigerator, there's a bunch of cigarette butts on my back steps, and the Girl Singer is still fixing her makeup in the bathroom. Jeez, they're more trouble than they're worth.

Many congratulations. The world (not just the blogging world) is a better place because you are in it, sharing your insights and bringing so many of us together in our common passion.

You are exceedingly kind, Caftan Woman. Thank you.

Jacqueline, what can I say...felicitous congrats on your fourth anniversary in the Blogosphere. Your blog is far and away one of the best, and I do my darndest to make sure I stop by every day. Oh...and you're always courteous to thank me at the LAMB when one of your posts makes the Classic Chops, so you're pretty much set as far as indulgences in Classic Movie Heaven go.

Thank you for the kind words, Ivan. I'm glad to know I'm being fast-tracked for Classic Movie Heaven, because I really want to ask somebody on "The Big Sleep" crew what that plot was all about.

Thank you, Rick and Laura. It's been a fun ride. Laura, your blog is one I visit several times a week, and am always sure to learn about a film I've never discovered.
