It is rare to live to be 100 years old. It is even more rare to be a hero. We pause at this time to reflect on the heroism, and the life lived by Miep Gies, who protected Anne Frank and her family in Amsterdam during their dark years of hiding from the Nazis.
Ultimately, she could not save Anne, but she saved her diary.
